Dave Hobson, United States Congressman 1998-2007

If the State of Ohio is ever going to emerge as a competitive business and quality of living state, it will need to have educated, experienced, respected and bold leadership. Greene County Commissioner Rick Perales fills all of those criteria. Rick has been innovative and successful at both the City and County level of government. He has a tremendous track record in the military – a 2010 Ohio Veteran Hall of Fame Inductee, and has led the University of Dayton through tremendous physical expansion and growth. We need Rick’s vision, experience and collaborative nature in Ohio to move this state forward!

I have withdrawn my candidacy from State Representative and have joined Rick Perales and his campaign. Rick and I have been friends since his campaign for Beavercreek City Council when he was elected Mayor. Rick’s common sense approach to governing will serve us well in Columbus. I have found Rick to be approachable and willing to do what needs to be done in service for our community. I believe Perales will hold our district and the office in high regard and serve with dignity and honor.

Gwen and I are Democrats who proudly endorse Rick Perales because of the measure of the man he has demonstrated to us through our longtime relationship. I was blessed to work with Rick during the “Beavercreek Vision Committee” efforts and witnessed firsthand his effective leadership and commitment to the people. He is honest, fair and firm in his beliefs, so be quick and vote for Rick!

I had the honor to work with Rick Perales as a fellow county commissioner. Commissioner Perales was always very knowledgeable concerning the issues affecting the community and region. I consider Commissioner Perales an outstanding candidate to represent this area in the state legislature.

Rick has been a driving force for this region, especially for Wright-Patterson AFB. His military background and community leadership greatly influenced our 2005 Base Realignment and Closure win and contributed to successfully bedding down the new missions and more than 1,000 new jobs. Given the announced budget reductions for DOD and our recent changes in congressional representation for WPAFB, his work on our behalf is more important now than ever. Rick's experience, education and proven leadership is exactly the representation this community needs in Columbus.

When looking for a leader to help build for the future, Rick Perales has a combination of professional experiences which reflect the makeup of this community. Rick is an Air Force Veteran; He’s been an elected official for a City and County; he is a senior development executive at a respected university. Given this background, it is not surprising that Rick has developed a reputation as someone who can effectively collaborate regardless of jurisdiction; political party; industry; or university affiliation.

If our community is to truly transform itself, elected leaders with Rick’s diverse experience may provide the best opportunity.

Rick Perales's service to Beavercreek and Greene County is second to none. As councilman and mayor, he worked earnestly to bring together community and business leaders for Beavercreek's benefit. Broadening his dedication to the larger community, he worked diligently the last few years as Greene County Commissioner. Always visible and always working for the greater good of our communities, he has proven time and again that he is a leader who can get the job done. It is time to send Rick to Columbus where he can have a greater impact for our local communities, advocate at a higher level for Wright Patterson Air Force Base and help move Ohio in a successful direction. Having known Rick for many years now, I proudly endorse his run for Ohio House Representative, and encourage others to support him as well.

Dear Mr. Perales,

I am so glad you are running for state representative. I know you truly have a heart to help others.

I will never forget when you cast the deciding vote at the Beavercreek City Council meeting that allowed our church to use the building we now hold church services in. As a result we have had the opportunity to help many in this community as well as missions around the world. I will vote and encourage others to vote for you because you would be a great representative for our state. It is obvious that you care about the things that have made this country great, and will work toward those things to make it better. I support you and will pray for you.

God bless you.

Last year, Rick Perales played a pivotal role in The Piano Preparatory School’s successful relocation. When the property owner ran into construction issues that could have resulted in significant delays and potential failure for my business, Rick not only helped facilitate a safe and reasonable solution with Greene County, but ensured that my business was able to be fully operational on schedule. This support of small business needs is exactly the vision I want in an elected State Representative. I am confident that Rick will continue to focus on making small business growth in our community a priority once elected.

I met Rick Perales shortly after moving to this area from my last overseas assignment. Immediately, it was apparent to me that he was truly a caring leader with strong family values. He took immediate interest in my family and children, three of which have developmental delays. I also learned we had a common career path, with my duty as a Command Chief and his experience as an Air Force Squadron Commander. In these positions, taking care of people is job #1, and Rick was no doubt outstanding in that capacity. I see Rick Perales at many base events, connecting to our airmen to ensure they have the quality of life they need and deserve! We need his representation now!

Even though I've served with Rick on the Greene County Regional Planning Committee and in other official capacities, it's Rick's non-office holding actions that matter most to my family. Seven years ago Rick showed up at Dayton Children's Hospital because he heard our daughter, who was eleven at the time, had been diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes and had just come out of the ICU. Rick was awesome as he participated in the JD training and let Sarah give him practice shots sparing me from those nasty needles. Rick is more than an elected official, he's a friend. I have known Rick Perales for over 15 years and he has demonstrated the leadership skills we need in Columbus. As a commander at WPAFB, he earned the respect of those who served in his unit at the same time he met the challenges of dealing with the infrastructure of one of the nation's most complex military installations. As base environmental manager, and now in my role as a park district commissioner, it is clear to me that Rick understands the importance of protecting our environment, as well as how to use our natural and historic resources as an element of economic development, in balance with improving our community's quality of life. As county commissioner he has provided strong, consistent, direction for Greene County with nothing but positive results for the place we both call home. While many talk about collaboration among governmental entities, Rick has been truly a leader who works hard to make government more effecient across jurisdictional boundaries on behalf of all the taxpayers. State government will be better because of the approach that Rick will bring to the legislature. Lastly, Rick has an unmatched level of enthusiasm, energy and passion that will translate into the best service by a state representative on behalf of the citizens of the 73rd District as well as those in the surrounding region. I highly endorse Rick Perales for Ohio State Representative of the 73rd District!

I've known Rick for many years and would like to say that he is a very community and veteran oriented person. Rick is a veteran himself and I was introduced to him when he joined the Beavercreek American Legion which I'm a life member of the Am. Legion Auxiliary. There has not been any time when I've seen him that Rick hasn't had the time to stop and and say, "Hi, how are things going?" I've called him and asked, "Rick, I'm holding this ceremony or that dinner/function", that he's not asked, "How can I help?" or sent a very gracious letter/proclamation to enhance what was going on. I feel that Rick will do us(Greene county) a great job in the 73rd district as he has done for Beavercreek and Greene county.

Rick Perales was inducted into the Ohio Veteran Hall of Fame in 2010, not only for his stellar military career, but as much because of his actions and commitment to his community after his career. Rick has worked tirelessly on behalf of his community since his retirement from the USAF. In his capacity as the Beavercreek Mayor and Greene County Commissioner, Rick brought excitement, pride and vision to the community. As a former commander at WPAFB, Rick has vested interest in Wright Patt’s mission and our war fighters. His intimate knowledge of Wright Patterson Air Force Base and its operations, along with his established and credible leadership, make him the perfect fit to represent us in Columbus.

I have known Rick Perales for many years. He is a firm believer in regional cooperation to make the whole area move forward. During his years as Commissioner, Rick has been proactive and cooperative especially when dealing with Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. His experience with the military has been a huge asset in Wright-Patt’s growth from 22,000 to 26,000 jobs.

Rick Perales is a leader. He was a leader in the USAF, as a Mayor, a County Commissioner and in the business community. Rick has, and continues to make a positive impact on the region. I worked with Rick while I served in the Beavercreek Police Department and have witnessed, close up, Rick's energy, knowledge and commitment to our community. Rick is the credible leader we need representing us in Columbus.

When the builder of our subdivision dragged his feet on infrastructure commitments, I turned to Commissioner Rick Perales. He got results! Along the way I found him to be approachable, responsive, and committed. His diverse experience and keen leadership was the key to turning an intractable situation into a taxpayer success story. Rick Perales has my vote for the Ohio House of Representatives.

I have known Rick Perales for several years. I’m excited to see a candidate with his integrity running for State Representative. We are in need of a leader who is concerned about OUR needs. Rick Perales is that man. I have personally known Rick to take the time to make changes for the better, and to not quit until the job was done. With Rick Perales in the seat of the 73rd District as a State Representative we can expect great things to come.

I’ve seen up-close the attributes Rick Perales brings to the table as an elected official. His engineering background and leadership skills have allowed Rick to make major positive impacts to our community. Likewise his collaborative nature has allowed him to effectively accomplish some previous unobtainable and significant breakthroughs. We will miss Rick at the County, but I look forward to the positive impact he will make for the region and state while serving us in
Columbus.
